This wondrous knowledge is beyond me. It is lofty; I am unable to reach it. —Psalm 139:6
An old hymn expresses the thoughts many of us have about eternity. We sing, “We’ll understand it better by and by.” When we get to heaven, the questions that perplex us on this earth will be answered.
There’s some truth in that perspective. But while some of our questions may be answered in heaven, we will not suddenly know everything. It’s not like God is going to take out a computer screen and put all the answers up for us. I’m not sure we will care so much, because when we look at Him as He is, He will be answer enough.
The same is true in our life on this earth.
God isn’t going to answer all your questions. If you knew all the answers, you would be God and you wouldn’t need Him. God won’t answer all your questions, but I will tell you what He will do: as you ask honest questions and then listen, He will reveal Himself to you.
