An Eternal Perspective

September 10, 2024 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

“Your God is indeed God of gods, Lord of kings, and a revealer of mysteries.” —Daniel 2:47

When Daniel had finished interpreting the king’s dream, “Nebuchadnezzar fell facedown” (Dan. 2:46) and worshiped Daniel’s God. This king of Babylon had a feeling the crown he wore on earth belonged to the King who rules from heaven. How much more should we know it—and live like it.

Because if we did, it would change a lot about how worked up we become when the news gets bad, when the cities rage, when our bills are mounting, when people we love keep failing us. When we keep failing ourselves.

The day is coming when the King will judge the kingdoms of this earth and establish His kingdom in this world—one that can never be destroyed (Rev. 19:11–16). And if we’re looking through eyes of faith, we can already see glimpses of that day.

The most corrupt, incompetent rulers of this age are only cause for alarm if we view them merely from earth’s perspective. Because from eternity’s vantage point, they’re no cause for us to panic at all.
