Restore us, O Lord God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved! —Psalm 80:19
What would it be like if God visited His people? If His presence showed up powerfully in your life, in your family, in your church, in the world?
Yet we have to ask ourselves, are we willing to receive the results of His presence in our lives? Because the presence of God upsets the status quo.
Like an earthquake, it drastically alters the landscape. Like a fire, it burns everything that is temporal or contaminated. Sometimes we may shrink back from the implications of God coming down and visiting us with His presence. What would it cost us? What adjustments would we have to make? What would get exposed that we’ve been able to keep hidden until now?
There are those who doubt it’s possible. There are those who are satisfied with things as they are. But I believe that deep in the heart of every true child of God is that longing to see God rend the heavens and come down—to visit us with His presence!
