For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. —Hebrews 4:15
In my ongoing struggle with anxiety, God has led me to Hebrews 4:15. It has helped me see that Christ is not oblivious to anxiety but He understands. He knows what I’m going through!
Have you ever thought about that? Christ understands you! But above all, He is the One who comforts you. There is no past, present, or future situation for which Christ has not paid on the cross. It is there where I must take my thoughts every time they want to attack (2 Cor. 10:5).
I continue to fight against anxiety, but understanding that God cares for me invites me to take it to Christ in prayer. That is when “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding” has guarded my heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:7). I know where I can run with the certainty that I have a shelter in the middle of the storm.
