The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. . . . [It] strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, “Glory!” —Psalm 29:4, 9
In Psalm 46:6, we find two aspects of God’s judgment. The first describes how the rebel- lion and evil of this world puts it on a course that will result in instability and insecurity. Nations rage, kingdoms totter. Even if God were never to directly intervene in judgment (which He will), there’s a sense in which He leaves the world to its own devices (Rom. 1).
The second aspect is God’s direct intervention in bringing judgment on this prodigal world. God spoke the world into being by His Word. He upholds the universe by the word of His power (Heb. 1:3). And then one day, God will bring final, cataclysmic judgment and dissolve the world as we know it (2 Pet. 3:10). How? By the power of His Word.
God is holy, powerful, and not to be trifled with. Even in the midst of judgment, He will be glorified.

Pray for people to turn to the Lord before the time comes when He will judge the world.
