“Indeed [the land] is flowing with milk and honey . . .However, the people living in the land are strong, and the cities are large and fortified.” —Numbers 13:27–28
As impressed as the spies were by the abundance of Canaan, they were even more terrorized by something else they had encountered—the people who lived there.
The spies had seen how God overthrew the entire Egyptian military. They had seen how God granted Joshua victory over the Amalekites. So, how did fear so quickly rise in their hearts? Did they think God had brought them this far only to forsake them? Did they think they would have to win these battles in their own strength?
What about you? Does it surprise you that there are adversaries to overcome in your spiritual pilgrimage before you can fully enter the abundant life God has promised you? Did you get saved thinking there would be no problems after you came to know Christ?
When you become a Christian, there are battles to be fought. But God is stronger than the enemies. He will overcome the giants through you.
