Having been set free from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness. —Romans 6:18
Being a servant is not a politically correct concept. However, as Paul explains in Romans 6, we’re all servants—either to sin and disobedience or to Christ and His righteousness. And there is no higher, holier calling (nor one with greater rewards) than to be a servant of Jesus Christ!
God has chosen us as believers to be His servants, to join Him in serving others. As we do, we follow in the example of Christ, the humble Servant of the Lord. In Mark 10:45, Jesus says about Himself, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
No matter how menial the task or unfulfilling the responsibility, we can joyously accept it and count it as an honor, for we’re following the example of our Lord Jesus of what it means to be the servant of all.
