My times are in your hand. —Psalm 31:15 ESV
If God’s heart were hard toward us, we might be justified in blazing our own trail through life. But our God is the One who controls the times and seasons. He is Lord over all, and He has come near to us through Jesus with love in His heart. He’s never in a hurry, yet He’s always on time. He is God, and He is ours.
So, we can trust Him, seeking always to stay sensitive and fully surrendered to Him. We can ask Him at the start of each new day to direct our path, to show us when an interruption is really an opportunity, and to protect us when the enemy seeks to destroy.
Let us pray, then, with David, “Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me” (Psalm 25:4–5 esv). Then at the end of our lives, along with Jesus, we will be able to say to our Father, “I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do” (John 17:4 esv).
