I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. —Romans 8:18
There’s only one way to develop endurance, and it’s to go through trials. There are no shortcuts. It requires circumstances that seem to be unbearable or unfair.
While there are lots of different kinds of affliction and suffering, Scripture says we should face all of them with joy. We run this race with endurance because we keep our eyes on Jesus who endured. As we look to Him, we’re able to keep going and not grow weary or fainthearted in our trials (Heb. 12:1–2).
And as we endure, we need to remember that there is a reward promised for steadfastness: “Blessed is the one who endures trials, because when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him” (James 1:12).
So, stay up under the trial. Be steadfast. God is a faithful God who is patient and longsuffering with us. And at the end, there’s a reward waiting for you.
