I remember you from the land of Jordan and the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. —Psalm 42:6
Have you ever been in a season where you were removed from everything that supported your faith? Maybe you couldn’t attend church or some of the friends you looked to for spiritual encouragement had moved away.
The writer of Psalm 42 was in a similar situation. He had been forced to leave the place where he met with God, and he wasn’t able to be with other believers. He was struggling with how to maintain an intimate relationship with God when there were no visible means of support.
It’s a mercy of God that He allows us to move into times like this. It may be the very thing we need to experience His presence in a way we didn’t realize when we had other spiritual helps around us.
If you find yourself feeling alone, that you have no support for your faith, know that God wants to do a work of grace in your heart. He wants to make you keenly aware of how great your need is for Him.
