Forms of Temptation
Woman: If I were in the Garden of Eden, I wouldn’t have been talking to any serpents. For one thing, I hate snakes! If I saw a talking snake, I’d be out of there!
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Temptation comes in a lot of forms, but it’s not usually through talking snakes. Instead of a serpent, temptation can come to us in the form of a New York Times bestseller, a popular magazine, or a top ten song. Temptation can come from a relative or friend offering advice, a therapist, or a post on social media.
But anytime we receive input that doesn’t match the Word of God, we need to realize that Satan is trying to deceive and destroy us. That’s why we need to know what the Bible says.
Woman: “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him” (1 Pet. 5:8-9).
Nancy: That’s a great reminder for today.
