A Thankful Heart
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Do you ever sound like Eeyore?
Man: I’ll be there . . . if it doesn’t rain, which it probably will. It always does.
Nancy: It’s easy to let our emotions control what we think. But Psalm 100 says, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise!”
I wonder how often we let Satan have a heyday with our minds and our emotions. We mull things over and over, until we feel overwhelmed.
But when we come to the place of praise, regardless of our emotions, it focuses our minds on the things that are pure and good and true, and that causes the enemy to flee.
What brings God glory is when you can say, “No matter what, may Jesus Christ be praised!”
So the cure for an Eeyore-like attitude lies in nurturing a thankful heart, a praising heart, even in the midst of affliction or difficult times.
