Join us as we take a hard look at how we schedule our time with our Summer Book Club pick, Crazy Busy. This week we peek at Chapter 4, "The Terror of Total Obligation." Check out the vlog below.
Is it possible our lives are so crazy busy because we are motivated by our guilt that we aren't doing more to meet the many needs around us? Perhaps we are overwhelmed, overextended, and worn out because we are trying to do what God does not expect us to do?
This chapter reminds us that doing more just to ease our guilt is not how God calls us to live. When it comes to our schedules, perhaps it's time to pray this passage, asking God to reshape our thoughts about what pleases Him.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect (Rom. 12:1–2).
After all, Jesus is the only hope for the world. We can rest knowing that the gospel is good news of great joy!
Does my schedule reflect that I am trying to save the world instead of trying to serve the Savior of the world?
Instead of packing our schedules with causes God hasn't gifted us for or called us to this week, let's take the time to be holy.
