My Love List

I've always struggled to believe that God loves me—loves me with the fullness and depth and beauty that He says He does.

Mysteriously enough, it was my long years of singleness that led me into a deep, indescribable experience of God's love. (Isn't it true that the very trials that threaten to crush us eventually become the bulwark of our souls?) In those years of silence and waiting, God was loud with His love.

But still, despite it all, I often struggle to believe and experience the infinite love of my Heavenly Husband on a daily basis.

So, I bust out my "love list."

I compiled this list when I was twenty or twenty-one, and I've returned to it over and over (and over!) again through the years. These truths from Scripture are rich, sustaining, and captivating. May they wash over your heart tonight too and remind you that you are loved beyond all comprehension.

Our emotions are strong, aren't they, ladies? Our hearts can easily lie to us. "God doesn't really love me."

But His truth is stronger than our emotions. Let's stand on the eternal reality of our Savior's love for us; let's remember that "by this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before Him; for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and He knows everything." (1 John 3:19–20)

Dear daughter of God, you are perfectly loved, and nothing in this world, nor the next, can change that.
