Editor’s Note: From time to time, we’d love to give you a peek into how God is moving around the world and is graciously using Revive Our Hearts. We received the following email from Davina, a new friend of ours, in Austria where she lives with her husband and is studying to be a teacher.
Dear Revive Our Hearts,
I'm a twenty-one-year-old student from a small country in Europe—Austria—so forgive me if my English isn't perfect. I have been listening to Revive Our Hearts for about half a year now, and I figured it was time to write and thank you for letting the Lord use you, even though we know that it’s His grace.
My husband loves Revive Our Hearts because he says it has transformed me and our relationship. Where there were quarrels and shouting, there is now much more peace.
I don't really know how I can describe what Revive Our Hearts and the daily 24:55 minutes of the podcast mean to me. It's uplifting, encouraging, and at the same time, challenging and eye-opening (and eye-wetting—if that's a word). Like Nancy, I gave the Lord my life at the age of four, and through the years, I followed Him with ups and downs. Two months ago I married a wonderful, godly man. Up to our engagement, which was two years ago, I thought myself to be a nice and God-fearing person. But God humbled me very much and showed me how incapable I was at having a relationship that honored Him without His daily grace.
At one point our relationship was so broken that my then fiancé had no strength to move on. I tore him down with my words constantly. God opened my eyes and spoke into my life in many ways. Shortly after that breakdown, I "stumbled" across ROH (or rather, the Lord gave me what I needed). It’s all still a wonder to me.
It changed me.
I began to understand that God didn't want me to pray for my fiancé's heart to change, but He wanted me to see my own sin. He wanted me to respect my fiancé, regardless of if he deserved it or not; just like I want to be loved, even if I don't deserve it (and I don't!). I also learned to go to Jesus to get my needs met, not to a man.
You also gave me a whole, new perspective on suffering. I love that you teach truth and don't give in to the superficial waves of the prosperity gospel that floods Christianity today. Instead, you provide sound and biblical doctrine that is meaningful, yet understandable to everyone.
Of course, I have to fight my flesh every day, and there are weeks when I lose sight of the Lord because I don't make Him a priority. I have to repent and turn around again, but Revive Our Hearts is always a big part in reminding me of what is most important.
My (now) husband loves Revive Our Hearts because he says it has transformed me and our relationship. Where there were quarrels and shouting, there is now much more peace. God changed me, and to Him alone be the glory!
I wanted to tell you this so that you have faith to move on in ministry. Don't be discouraged. The Lord is doing a great work through you, even in far away countries. God has used you to instill in me a burning desire to be a true woman of God and to pass on what I'm learning to other women and the next generations. I recommend Revive Our Hearts to all of my friends and the women in my church. Thank you for strengthening us.
Though I don't know any of you personally and probably will never meet you here on earth, I've grown to love you. I'm so looking forward to meeting you all in heaven, where you will be rewarded for what you do! I pray for you, and I so adore that God is getting all the glory from your ministry!
