Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it. —Revelation 1:3 ESV
People tend to either avoid Revelation or immerse themselves in it, trying to piece together future events. Truly, there’s much in Revelation beyond the understanding of the most astute Bible scholars. Yet the Apocalypse contains many things we can be sure of—such as the “blessing” of Revelation 1:3.
I think the main point of Revelation isn’t a puzzle to be put together. It’s a revelation of Jesus, the One we are to obey. All the blessings promised in this book flow out of God’s blessing on those who read, hear, and keep His Word. Jesus Himself spoke of the blessings that come to “everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them” (Matt. 7:24).
Herein, too, lies the key to greater understanding of the mysteries of God’s Word: we’re given grace to grasp more of His heart and His eternal plans as we keep those parts of His Word that we already have come to know and understand.

There’s a lot in Scripture that can be difficult to comprehend. How faithfully are you obeying the passages you do understand?
