Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, . . . said to the entire Israelite community, “. . . don’t rebel against the Lord, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land.” —Numbers 14:6–7, 9
Rather than go with the crowd, Joshua linked himself with men of faith—men like Moses and Caleb who mutually encouraged and strengthened each other to fully follow the Lord.
There are times in life when you have no one to walk with you except the Lord. If that’s where God puts you, then He will strengthen you to go into the battle. But I’m grateful for the people who have encouraged me and helped hold me up when I was slipping into unbelief and fear. They’ve helped me focus on the Lord rather than on the giants. They’ve reminded me of God’s promises, that He is greater and that He is faithful.
I not only need people like that, but I want to do that for others. I want to be a friend who can come alongside them and inspire and instill faith in the covenant promises of God.
Make it Personal
Ask God for a friend who encourages you to trust in Him. Ask Him to help you be that kind of friend to others.
