Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another. —Colossians 3:16
I’ve watched many friends send the last of their “brood” out of the nest. As their children get jobs, marry, and start their own families, these moms wonder, What am I supposed to do now?
Fortunately, Titus 2 says exactly what to do. We’re to speak words that are true and good, that bless and build others up. And in the process, we train younger women in the life of faith.
If you’re an older woman, this is part of your job description. God has a purpose for you in this season of life.
And if you’re younger, this passage raises important questions: Who are you learning from? Who are your teachers? Is it mainly your peers, online communities, celebrities?
Titus 2:4 isn’t just a call for older women to teach what is good. It’s also a call for younger women to learn what is good from their older, more experienced sisters. This mandate is a great gift for women of every age.
