With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. —2 Peter 3:8
Just as God cannot be confined to one place, He cannot be restricted to a particular time. He is everywhere all the time and He is “everywhen” in all places. He is fully present in what we’ve already experienced and in what we’ve yet to experience. This is His eternal nature.
God is not limited by clocks and calendars. Why does this matter? Because time is of no consequence to what He does or to when He does it. What matters is that He will do what He says He will do.
For the prophets in the old covenant and the saints in the new, this means that God’s plans, once proclaimed, are as good as done. God is in control. He has a plan. He’s fulfilling His purposes. You can trust Him.
Therefore it is God, not time, that we should serve. He is the better master.
