I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you. —Psalm 119:11
Perhaps you, like me, want to speak encouraging, life-giving words. The key to a transformed tongue is a transformed heart. A person who is righteous loves what God loves and hates what He hates.
Jesus said, “A good person produces good out of the good stored up in his heart. An evil person produces evil out of the evil stored up in his heart, for his mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart” (Luke 6:45). The words we speak actually reflect our hearts.
If I am a foolish person, then I will speak foolish words. If I am a wicked person, I will speak wicked words. But if I am a godly woman whose heart is connected to Jesus Christ, then I will speak wise words that are full of grace, mercy, and truth. Wise, kind words flow out of wise, kind hearts. When we fill our hearts with the Word of God, what flows from our heart to others will reflect Him.
Make it Personal
Ask the Lord to help the words of your mouth to be a reflection of Him.
