A Serious Attitude

You welcomed [the word of God] not as a human message, but as it truly is, the word of God, which also works effectively in you who believe. —1 Thessalonians 2:13

When it comes to serving others in ministry, it’s important to be in tune with them and their individual needs. However, there’s one crucial element that all people need—and that’s the Word of God.

Our words may be able to inform their minds or reform their behavior, but His Word is what transforms their lives and hearts from the inside out. What’s said of God’s Word in 1 Thessalonians 2:13 could never be said of my books or anyone else’s. The Word of the Lord is powerful.

So many believers today have a ho-hum attitude toward God’s Word. However, we’re charged to take it seriously. Isaiah 66:2 says we should tremble at His Word. Tremble! We’re to submit our lives to it. Whether we understand it or not, whether we agree with it or not, and whether we think it makes sense or not, if we truly want to live for God, we will say “Yes, Lord.”
