Can you fathom the depths of God or discover the limits of the Almighty? —Job 11:7
Years ago, I heard Dr. John Piper make a statement that resonated deeply in my heart: “In every situation and circumstance of your life, God is always doing a thousand different things that you cannot see and you do not know.”
I shared this while talking with a mom whose daughter had chosen a prodigal lifestyle. She said, “I need that quote hanging where I can look at it all the time.” It’s a truth we all need hanging in our hearts.
Regardless of what crisis is in your life, God is at work. You may not see it, but you need to know it’s true. And He’s not just doing one or two things in that situation. He’s doing a thousand or more things.
You’ll never be able to fully fathom what God is doing in your life. But you can be sure He knows what He’s doing. He is God, and He is working—purposefully, skillfully, lovingly. And one day, you’ll look back and see His hand in all those inexplicable circumstances.
