Every wise woman builds her house, but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands. —Proverbs 14:1
Regardless of our marital status or living arrangements, all of us have some type of “house.” That “house” may be our immediate family, our neighborhood, our workplace, our school, our church, or our nations.
The book of Proverbs tells us we can be a builder or a demolition expert. Through our attitudes, our words, and our behavior, we have the power to bless and build the lives of those around us; we also have the power to tear down and destroy them.
Do you build up by being quick to serve with a willing heart? Or do you tear down by being reluctant to serve? Do you build your home by taking care of your family’s needs? Or do you neglect those needs by lack of planning, discipline, or desire?
Do you renew your mind with Scripture, or are you more familiar with the voices of this world? Knowing God’s Word and doing it will help you change from a demolition expert to a master builder.
Make it Personal
Confess any words or actions to God that are tearing down your home. Then ask for help to build a home that’s glorifying to Him.
