An Immovable Truth

August 8, 2024 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, and the flame will not burn you.” —Isaiah 43:2

We are not doomed to despair, despite the floods of anguish and adversity we may face, despite alarming threats to our health and safety, despite the insistence of those who believe they can act against us in whatever way they choose, and despite the sense that we have no recourse because their behavior seems beyond God’s ability or willingness to intervene.

Things that seem immovable on earth are not immovable to the King of heaven. “He changes the times and seasons,” Daniel declared when the king’s dream was revealed to him in answer to prayer. “He removes kings and establishes kings” (Dan. 2:21).

Sooner or later, this immovable truth will be recognized by every ruler on earth and by all those under their authority.

What person or circumstance seems immovable today? How can you remind yourself that God is in control over everything?
