Without faith it is impossible to please God. —Hebrews 11:6
Several years ago, Revive Our Hearts was going through some major changes. After much prayer, our board went forward with a big step of faith. Yet no sooner had we made the decision than my heart lapsed into fear. For months, I was in a frenzy of terror about this decision. I wasn’t walking in faith.
One day a board member asked, “Have you been resisting and rebelling against this change, and therefore have you been resisting and rebelling against God?”
God used these words to bring me to a place of repentance. Then He began a sweet work of restoring my heart and gave me a sense of peace and joy I hadn’t experienced for months.
Nothing in my circumstances had changed. But I knew that if God had called us to these changes, we could do it. As I exercised faith and surrendered to Him, God gave me a sense of confidence in His leading. He brought me to a place of leaning hard on His everlasting arms and finding His grace to be sufficient for every obstacle.
Make it Personal
Ask God to show you if any of your fears about the future are really areas where you are rebelling against Him.
