If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. —1 Corinthians 13:1
If you’ve ever attended a symphony, you’ve heard the orchestra begin the concert by tuning their instruments. What a noise! When they’re all doing their own thing, it’s a horrendous sound. It makes you want to put your hands over your ears.
In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul says that’s what a family or church is like. If we’re speaking the truth but don’t have love, it’s like a bunch of instruments making a loud noise.
The world isn’t impressed with the noise we make as believers when we make that noise without love. When we go out into the world and communicate the gospel, people won’t be impressed by our message if they don’t sense in us a heart of selfless love. They’ll feel like we’re just making a loud noise.
When we speak with love, our words can be as beautiful as a moving concert. Let’s commit as a Body of Christ to make love a priority in our communication.
Make it Personal
