A voice of one crying out: Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness; make a straight highway for our God in the desert. —Isaiah 40:3
The children in your life weren’t specifically prophesied in Isaiah 40, as John the Baptist was. No angel appeared announcing their birth, saying, “He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah” (Luke 1:17). But you can show your children God’s promises and help them understand they weren’t born to serve them- selves or seek to be entertained. Just as John prepared the way for Christ to come physically the first time, they and all of us are here to prepare the way for Him to come to others’ hearts and lives.
You can give them a biblical vision for their lives.
Your children, if you’re blessed to have them, are each gifted and talented. They will go on and continue to do many different things. But no matter what kind of work they’ll do, they’re here on mission, on purpose. God has placed them here to know Him, enjoy Him, and make Him known. And they need to know that.
