Consider my affliction and rescue me, for I have not forgotten your instruction. —Psalm 119:153
In this stanza, the psalmist . . . knows that the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and his ears will hear their cry. The Lord is a delivering God. Where does the psalmist go to find this saving God? He goes to the word of God. . . .
Thankfully, our hope is not in our ability to perfectly remember God’s law or perfectly pray to God, but in being united to the One who did do both those things . . . We see in Jesus Christ the one person whose lips and heart always reflected the truth of this passage. We see this in his life. When he was tempted by the devil, he counteracted the lies with Scriptural truth. We also see it in his covenantal love, displayed when he died on the cross while knowing that those he was dying for—sinners like us—would be prone to forget his law. Now, clothed in his righteousness, we can take the declaration of verse 153 as our own. 1

How can you make the declaration of Psalm 119:53 your own and not “forget” God’s instruction?
