The serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God.” —Genesis 3:4
Satan tricked Eve into thinking she could be like God and live her life independently of Him. Eve questioned the Lord and preferred to heed the temptation of Satan, who effectively made her believe God didn’t want the best for her. She chose to pursue her happiness out of her own understanding.
We’re still dealing with the consequences of this choice today. In the case of women, the mistaken desire of “wanting to be like God” has caused us to try to satisfy our own longings instead of living for the glory of our Creator.
The road of living out God’s design is narrow; it’s costly and sacrificial. It requires putting God before our own desires. The only way to walk that path is to have seen the glory of God in the face of Jesus. And when we’re willing to embrace our divine design, we can be lights in this world, pointing to our glorious Savior.
Make it Personal
Pray that God would enable you to walk the path of His design for your life and that it would reflect His glory to others.
