Eternal Perspective

April 27, 2024 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

[Daniel] declared: May the name of God be praised forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to him. —Daniel 2:20

Through no fault of his own, Daniel faced an almost unbroken succession of difficulties throughout his life, from his teen years until his eighties. His story inspires us to believe that it’s possible for us, too, to remain calm and courageous in the face of crises—both in the way we respond to the macro headlines in the world and the way we deal with the micro headaches in our personal lives. How?

By lifting our eyes from earth’s perspective to see what’s going on from God’s perspective. By remembering, as Daniel did, that our confidence isn’t in the powers that be but in the all-powerful God of heaven whose we are and whom we serve. By viewing everything that’s happening around and to us through the lens of “Heaven rules.” And by trusting that, though His ways may not always be easy to discern, our sovereign and providential God is always at work, always carrying out His grand and gracious purposes in all that transpires in this world.
