I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. —Galatians 2:20
This faith that we have received is a marvelous thing. Faith itself is a gift—it is not innate to us; we must receive it—and it is also a giver of more gifts. Faith is what enables us to receive the innumerable and immeasurable graces of God, “everything required for life and godliness” (2 Pet. 1:3).
Faith is the way the Holy Spirit makes us see our need for Christ and then enables us to believe and receive Him. And as we all know, we are not done with faith when we are born again. Nor is faith done with us. It is a lifelong companion, if you will, never leaving us and always drawing us into the fullness of Christ. It continuously supports the work of salvation, seamlessly moving us from justification into sanctification, from one degree of glory to another (2 Cor. 3:18).
Make it Personal
We can’t see faith, but we can see its effects. In what ways do you see faith active in your life?
