Who caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, who divided the waters before them to make for himself an everlasting name? —Isaiah 63:12
Twice in Isaiah 63 we find references to God making a name for Himself (vv. 12, 14). Why would He care so much about doing this? So that others could see what He had done for and on behalf of His people. God is about displaying His glory throughout the earth so that people and nations may believe and turn to Him and be saved.
As Christians, the way we live, the way we treat other people, the way we deal with problems and respond to pain is either causing the name of God to be glorified or it’s causing God’s name to be disparaged.
You might think that it doesn’t matter if you stay bitter about your pain. But it does, because you’re giving God a bad name. Do you want to give God a good name? That happens when you forgive and there’s no human explanation for your ability to do so. You’re giving God a glorious name when you do.
