When I am filled with cares, your comfort brings me joy. —Psalm 94:19
Can you imagine a silent God? An indifferent God? A distracted God? What would we do if God were to withhold His counsel, correction, instruction, and calm? Where would we go when our hearts feel overwhelmed?
But this will never happen, will it? Because God speaks—by His Spirit and through His Word. His consolations—and His counsels and His corrections—can restore our souls just as they did the psalmist’s. If we listen, we will hear. If we pour out our cares, as Hannah did (1 Sam. 1) and then wait, we will hear.
Having His Word stored up in our hearts helps us stand against the onslaught of temptation (Psalm 119:11). It also prepares us to respond with truth to the lying, accusing, and fear mongering messages the enemy tries to slip under the door of our heart.
God speaks in the moment of our need and also in advance. Are you listening? Are you storing up God’s Word in your heart?

Make it Personal
Make note of something God has spoken to you from His Word recently. Keep record of the things He says to you.
