“For what great nation is there that has a god near to it as the Lord our God is to us whenever we call to him?” —Deuteronomy 4:7
You may have prayed for something for a long time, like a sick child or a difficult financial situation. But while we know God listens to our prayers, it can sometimes feel like we don’t get answers.
I like to write my prayers. My Bible is full of dates and answers from God, which help me see His faithfulness. But some of my prayers haven’t received an answer.
It’s easy to doubt if I’ve asked in faith or if this is God’s will for me. But in Deuteronomy 4:7, God reminds me that He’s near whenever we call to Him. He is close to our pain and our need!
If you’re discouraged by prayers that seem unanswered, may you rest in the love of Him who carries you on His chest like a lamb (Isa. 40:11), who holds your tears (Psalm 56:8), and who has engraved your name on His hand (Isa. 49:16). He is close to you when you call to Him.
