“Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” —Joshua 1:9
Even though it wasn’t God’s plan to send the spies into Canaan, He let the people have their way. But it was at a great cost. It proved to be the first step in a downward spiral that ended up with the Israelites wandering in the wilderness for forty years, with an entire generation never making it into the Promised Land at all.
Is there something you know God wants you to step out in faith and do, but you’ve been afraid? You’ve been resisting, wanting to first test the waters. God may let you check it out as He let the Israelites send the spies into Canaan. What you discover, however, may discourage you from ever going in to take over the land.
Instead, choose today to step out in faith and follow wherever the Lord may lead. Take the time to know His Word, to seek out His will and His ways. And thank Him that He already knows the way He wants you to go.
