A staff researcher in our ministry sends me a weekly round-up of links to articles on various current events and cultural issues and trends in our world. Each edition highlights scores of moments when human pride seems to have triumphed and when God and all that is holy and good seems to have been trounced. Court rulings, school board decisions, and new legislation that fly in the face of truth and justice. Elected official celebrities, and, all-too-often, pastors and Christian leaders who make the headlines by flaunting evil and flouting God’s law. Repressive regimes that clamp down on followers of Christ and seek to eliminate gospel witness in the public square. Pride walks. Everywhere.
But “Heaven rules.” Over everything. God is not losing at anything. The pride that seems to be winning is only awaiting its date with destruction.
