Esther was winning favor in the eyes of all who saw her. —Esther 2:15
One bad thing after another happened to Esther. She lost her parents at a young age and was raised by her cousin. She lived in exile in a country that was hostile to her religion and her people. She was forced into a “beauty contest” (aka she became part of the king’s harem). And she married a cruel and vindictive man. Through it all, however, God was with her.
While our lives are very different from that of Esther, many women—perhaps even you—are in tough circumstances:
-
Difficult marriages
-
Strained family relationships
-
Difficult work environments
-
Ongoing health difficulties
When we go through tough times, it’s easy to feel as if God has forgotten us—and let that feeling dictate our reactions. But even in the worst of circumstances, a woman of God can grow in favor with God and others if she has a winsome spirit and godly character. God works through our lives to accomplish His purposes, just as He did in Esther’s life.
