We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. —Romans 8:28
How could something as evil and threatening as what you may be facing today ever result in anything of value? The answer, at least in part, lies in Romans 8:29—“those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son.” If you’re a child of God, the ordeal you’re undergoing will be used to take you deeper into His heart.
Think of the cross. Who could have seen one good thing coming from such an atrocity? Only the God who had masterminded the whole story and who could see ahead to Resurrection. He is the same One who has measured the scope of your pain and who won’t allow into your life a single circumstance that will derail His plan for you.
If even the scourge of the cross couldn’t stop Him from completing the plan He had for His Son, how could any difficulty in your life overcome His desire and ability to complete the plan He has for you?
Make it Personal
Thank God that for everything in your life today that seems bad or worse, He can make “everything appropriate in its time” (Eccl. 3:11).
