Let all that you do be done in love. —1 Corinthians 16:14
The Corinthian church had a whole host of problems that were the result of a loveless religion. Lack of love in their relationships with God and with one another created divisions, conflict, and contention. The apostle Paul had to write a whole book just to address the problems that were created in this church because they did not know how to love one another with the love of God. They were selfish rather than loving.
So, Paul exhorted them to walk in the way of love, to let love be the rule and the law of their lives.
We need to do the same thing today. If we are walking in the way of love, which is the love of Jesus Christ, it will influence everything we do at church. It will govern our home and the way we do marriage and parenting. It will impact our relationships when we leave church and go out into the world. Following the way of love will influence every area of our lives—and make Jesus shine through us.
Make it Personal
Take time to evaluate your actions at church, home, work, and in your neighborhood. Are you letting love be the rule in those areas?
