Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. —James 4:8
My friend Amy and I have been friends for years and can often complete one another’s sentences. We know each other well because we’ve spent time sharing hopes, confessing sin, crying, laughing, and being held accountable.
Sometimes it’s easier to run to my friend in a time of need than it is to run to God. That’s the way it is for most of us. But what would it take for me to see my need for God at the first inkling of trouble? To understand that all I need is found in His Word?
Those times when I’m tempted to run to other things usually reflect time I haven’t spent with God. And in order for me to see my need for God and to hear the voice of God, I need to meet with Him every single day.
Ultimately, knowing God is about intimacy with God. He beckons us to come and commune with Him, and He is available to us through His Word and by His Spirit each and every day.
