The righteous one will live by his faith. —Habakkuk 2:4
Are you living by faith, or are you struggling to live for God through your own power? Relying on yourself leads to discouragement and condemnation. But living by faith brings confidence and peace. The God who has power to save you is also living in you, ready to help every moment.
The apostle Paul said those who have been justified by faith should continue to live by faith. He quoted a verse from Habakkuk: “The righteous will live by faith” (Gal. 3:11).
Not only is this a crucial part of Paul’s letter to the Galatians, but it is also the turning point in the book of Habakkuk. In just a few words we see how the prophet could handle the issues that had perplexed him earlier. By faith he could patiently wait for justice. By faith he could undergo the coming Babylonian persecution.
Like Habakkuk, we can live by faith amid uncertainty and difficult circumstances. That means we stop relying on ourselves to change things and rely on the God in us, who will help us face whatever comes our way.
