I wait for the Lord; I wait and put my hope in his word. —Psalm 130:5
For most of us, waiting on God is an everyday struggle. And the more difficult the situation, the more tempted we are to try to find the solution for ourselves or to think that there’s something else we can do.
When I recently faced that temptation, my response was to come before God and be inspired by His promise in Isaiah 30:15: “You will be delivered by returning and resting; your strength will lie in quiet confidence.”
I needed to be still before Him, to rest in the knowledge that He is in control. Could I trust that the Ruler of the earth would do what is just?
I reminded myself that I could be confident that God knows what is appropriate. He has declared the end from the beginning (Isa. 46:10), and He knows what I don’t know.
I can wait on the Lord, with patience, knowing that He will make me strong, because the promise of His Word is strength.
