“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” —2 Corinthians 12:9
I have struggled with anxiety for as long as I can remember. There are times when it “calms down,” and there are times when it’s quite active. Over time, I’ve been able to associate my anxiety mainly with fear. As I’ve studied God’s Word, one thing that stands out is that the phrase “do not be afraid” appears over three hundred and fifty times. It’s not that there’s a lack of reasons to fear—there are many. But fear doesn’t have to dominate me.
During one crisis, I came across 2 Corinthians 12:9, which helped me grasp what God can do through these situations. Clearly understanding that God could use those moments of despair for His glory changed my perspective, and I began to see ways where God’s power was perfected in me. I have great peace knowing that God is sovereign and He has allowed these situations in my life. If this is what’s going to keep me on my knees before Him, then I want to give Him glory!
