I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things. —2 Peter 1:15
If you knew your days were numbered, what would you say to those you love before it was too late?
The apostle Peter was in that situation. In 2 Peter, he says the Lord had shown him he didn’t have many days left on earth. So, before his death, he had some things he wanted to share with other Christians—things he didn’t want them to ever forget. While what he outlined in 2 Peter might have been things these early Christians already knew, Peter wanted these truths to be drilled into their heads and hearts.
We also need to be reminded and re-reminded. We need to review the basics of our faith because we can forget so easily and slip away from what we know.
Our eyes need to be open to what we’ve already learned so we can reinforce these truths in our lives. Then we can be intentional about growing in our faith, about living the way that God wants us to live.
Make it Personal
Read 2 Peter 1 three times. Then ask God to reinforce the truths of this passage in your heart.
