No Need to Panic

June 19, 2024 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. —Isaiah 26:3 ESV

The night before Robert’s first cancer surgery, I posted some thoughts on social media:

Here are three truths we’re clinging to as we head into surgery tomorrow: (1) Anything that makes us need God is a blessing. (2) You can trust God to write your story. (3) Heaven rules! The Lord blessed us with peace that day. And He has been blessing us that way ever since, the peace interrupted only by times when we forget or fail to believe that Heaven rules.

So, if we know that God has made His strength and peace available to us even in situations that feel unstable and uncertain, panic isn’t our only option. Panic, in fact, makes no sense under these conditions.

Our God sits enthroned; our God is King forever (Psalm 29:10). And He can give us not only strength but also peace. We don’t have to come undone. Panic is only for people who don’t know that Heaven rules. Or who don’t believe that His rules apply to them.

What are some of the things that are causing you to panic right now? How can you submit them to Heaven’s rule?
