His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. —2 Peter 1:3
Several years ago, at the start of the new year, I evaluated where I was spiritually. I realized there were some real needs in my walk with the Lord. I felt spiritually dry, sluggish, and flabby, and I recognized I had spiritual vulnerabilities.
About that time my pastor started to teach on 2 Peter 1. God knew these verses were just for me! As I studied this passage and began to gain a deeper understanding of the incredible resources God has given His children, I found great encouragement for my struggle.
In 2 Peter 1:3–4, we find a picture of what God has done for us and what He has given us. If you want to make a new beginning in your Christian life, this is the place to start: It’s not what you can do for God; it’s what God has done for you. It’s not what you can give God; it’s what God has given to you. These truths are what give us the power for lasting change.
