We were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life. —Romans 6:4
There have been times when sin has seemed extremely powerful in my life. When temptation looms strong, I remind myself of the truth that Christ’s resurrection means
the power of sin in my life has been broken. It doesn’t mean we won’t ever sin again but that we don’t have to.
When I was baptized as a young girl, as the pastor lowered me under the water, he said, “Buried with Him in the likeness of His death.” Then as he lifted me up, he pronounced, “Raised to walk in newness of life.”
Some of us only live at the cross, and we’re drowning. We’ve got to come up out of that water and walk with Jesus in newness of life!
You’re not a servant of sin. It’s no longer your master. If you’ve been crucified with Christ and raised with Him, the power of sin in your life has been overcome.
Make it Personal
Praise God that because of the resurrection, the same power that raised Jesus from the grave is available to you!
