Long ago God spoke to our ancestors by the prophets at different times and in different ways. In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son. —Hebrews 1:1–2
The time of the prophets spanned just over one thousand years, beginning with Moses and ending with Malachi. After this, humanity experienced what is often called the “400 Years of Silence” when no words from heaven were heard. (God would break that silence by sending a new and one-of-a-kind prophet, John the Baptist, who prepared the way for the appearance of Christ.)
A study of the prophets’ messages can be fascinating, but the pinnacle of each one is the anticipation of the coming of the Prophet, Jesus Christ. He, the only Son of the Father, fulfilled their messages by actually being the eternal Word. God spoke to us by His Son in the traditional sense of being the Messenger, but He is also the Message.
A Message we believe, receive, and tell.
