The Lord answered me. —Habakkuk 2:2
Receiving an answer from God means; (1) you have been heard, and (2) He has something you need to take to heart.
For the moment, set aside the matter of whether His answer was what you wanted to hear and savor the fact that God’s ears are open to the prayers of His children. Our prayers of lament, confession, confusion, gratitude, or complaint don’t fall to the floor as if they were meaningless to Him. And if God’s ears are open to us, then His heart is as well.
God loves to surprise us with His answers. You may not think His answer is the right one, but I guarantee you it is. That’s where faith comes in.
“I sought the Lord, and he answered me,” David wrote in Psalm 34:4. He went on to say, “and rescued me from all my fears.” The God who listens also moves. He hears us and He acts to correct, protect, and draw us near. His answer proves His presence.
