The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day. —Proverbs 4:18 ESV
Whether you’re young or not so young, you can be a vibrant model of adorning the gospel for as long as God gives you breath— provided you’re constant in your walk with God. That’s the expectation: chronological maturity accompanied by continual spiritual growth and increasing spiritual health.
As we age, our physical bodies and minds may deteriorate, but our inner spirit (Christ in us) can shine brighter until that Day when we enter the endless light of His presence.
When we’re young, we may be able to gloss over character defects with the natural blush of our energy, good looks, and personality. But as we get older, our physical sparkle begins to fade. And those same character shortages, if not dealt with, will only become more pronounced.
But if we persevere seeking Him, we’ll become more and more like those described in Psalm 92, who “thrive like a palm tree” and are “healthy and green, to declare, ‘The Lord is just’” (vv. 12, 14–15).
